    SPRING BREAK
    by Mike Bowden - Wednesday, 11 March 2015, 2:02 PM

    As we move into Spring Break, there are many things families can do to help your children over the holiday. Here are some tips:

    1. Maintain some routines. This will also help make the transition back to school easier.

    2. Experts say children should read at least 30 minutes per day over holidays to avoid falling behind. This can be books, comic books, recipes, etc. What ever they have an interest in! For younger children who are just learning to read... read with them or have them 'practice' reading. Set aside a daily reading 'routine.'

    3. Mathletics - make use of Dufferin's Mathletics program online.

    4. LearnNowBC - an online site that has many, many resources for parents and children. Including advice and tutoring. Just click on the link.

    More information on activities over Spring Break can also be found on the School District 73 website. Check the links under "District News."

    KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION - March 2-6
    by Mike Bowden - Thursday, 26 February 2015, 9:30 AM

    Kindergarten registration for Dufferin Elementary School opens on March 2nd for September 2015. We can not accept registrations earlier than that date. However, please register as soon as possible to assist us with planning and staffing and to ensure we have enough seats. If you are wishing to register your child, please make sure you have the following information:

    1. Proof of residence - a bill or other proof that you live within the Dufferin catchment area;

    2. Copy of Birth Certificate and Care Card;

    3. You will need to complete a district enrollment form (see attached).

    If you are wanting to register but do not live within our catchment, you will need to register at the school in your catchment first and then let us (Dufferin) know your intentions. We will put you on a waiting list for September. Siblings of students already attending Dufferin have preference and then first come, first serve. Decisions for placement off of the waiting list can not be made until the first few weeks of September and depends on availability.
